Products I regret buying.

Hola Beauty Addicts! (You see what I did there, yup, cultural)

Buying a bad product, especially when it's expensive, hyped up, or whatever led you to believe it would be amazing to begin with can sting. Some of the products I'm going to share with you now that I look back are obvious 'what were you thinking?' moments, but alas, I did part with the money.

So let's get started with make up!

This first product was a hefty hit to my bank balance. It's the Benefit Dr. Feelgood Face Primer. I was expecting to love this product. When applied in store it seemed silky, oil free and most importantly, light as a feather. This was the perfect no make up make up base... that is until you've had it on for about an hour because that's when it's welcome to shine city, known for it's oil production. Too far? Maybe so, but it's the truth. product in the container also becomes weirdly dirty quickly and personally I feel this product is quite unhygienic if you don't wash the sponge every couple of days, but that's not good for sponges shelf life, is it? Not good and certainly not worth it £21.50 price tag.

How about some eyeliners. This first one may come as a shock and I must say, please don't kill me! It's a Jemma Kidd, more specifically the Jemma Kidd I-Glamour Define Eyeliner in black. It is important that this didn't kill me so much as I received this for free as a gift in a magazine, which I thought was a pretty good deal to be quite honest. Wrong. I quickly found that the smudge sponge is very rough for the eye area, the colour isn't heavily pigmented at all and it may just be mine but this eyeliner just crumbled the minute I sharpened it. this would have been a terrific no-no had I paid the full £14 pounds for it. Not impressed.

Bourjois Liner Feutre claims to be 'a soft felt-tip eyeliner for ultra easy application and long lasting effect.' Soft in this sense clearly means scratchy, and ultra easy is a bit difficult when the pen runs out after half an eye. This '24H' product is more like a smudge within one hour deal and for £6.99 I think I'll be sticking with an eyeliner I can actually get out of the applicator.

Last but not least on my disappointing eyeliners is another shocker. It's the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Well if it isn't already a mouthful, the product is worse. my pot and my mommy's dried up within a few weeks of use and yet the product was greasy and smudge at the same time. I found the brush to be a very strange choice as well however I do like it for the lower lash line which is why I kept it. However there are much better gel eyeliners on the market and this just wasn't up to it for me. In Maybelline's defence, for £7.99 it is beautifully packaged and the brush gives it that full kit feel.

For me, Simple products have always been just all hype and no quality but when I heard about their Kind To Eyes Makeup Corrector Pen I thought my prayers were answered. However after parting with my cash I found that this product doesn't remove even the smallest makeup mistakes, the pen nib cannot be cleaned as said on the tube and it dries up within a few days even when stood on it's head. This is basically water in a tacky plastic tube. I'll still with my makeup remover and cotton buds in future.

All those eyes have worn me out and it's time for some nails... but you might not want to take there next products anywhere near them. my first is one of those clueless items that I was clearly being an absolutely cheap when I bought it. In a desperate bid for some quick nail polish remover I popped down to my local co-op during the magical twilight hours and made a massive mistake. Own brand nail polish remover! What? As a self confessed Sally Hansen addict I was clearly living with my head in the clouds during this purchase but if you fancy scrubbing relentlessly at your nails to get that polish of then this is your trick. If you're sane like the rest of us, the probably not. The 95p price tag probably should have tipped me off... Co-Operative Nail Polish Remover.

Contradictory to  what I said above about my Sally Hansen love I did recently put my faith in what seemed like a really great product: Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat. A two in one product with zero results. After an entire day of drying time I felt pretty confident about going to bed wearing this and woke up to an absolute disaster with no time to fix it. Needless to say I ended up spending a very special occasion with messy, stained and scratched nails. They say this product is chip resistant, well that it may be but it certainly isn't smudge proof.

The No.7 Stay Perfect Top Coat is a simple no-no. It bubbles. I've used this product several times in lots of different ways to try and get it to just go on right but it's useless. The product doesn't dry very quickly and it pains me to spend a lot of time on a manicure and then ruin it with a bubbly top coat. Now No.7 have relaunched this product may have changed so don't hold me to the opinion on the older formula!

Last one! In some ways I think this was the most disappointing product yet. I took my first foray into the world of fibre mascaras with the Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara. The formula I'm very happy with but I'm not sure if it really does make any difference when compared to my favourite mascara but my real problem is the wand. I just don't understand this bristled monstrosity that clumps the lashes together and basically makes it look like I have five super thick lashes sticking out of my eyes. Plus the brush is so long that the chances of getting a good coat of product without getting mascara all over the lids is pretty much zero to none.

So there you have it. The main products that just made me go: 'What the heck did I just pay for?'

So long!

Bye Addicts.
